Eagle Creek is a very large municipal park in northwest Indianapolis, featuring a reservoir, bird sanctuary, forest, hiking trails, and other educational and recreational opportunities. I took advantage of warm weather, and hiked around the bird sanctuary and forest. Some portions of the trails were quite muddy, but I only fell in the mud once.

My brother, Chance, worked at this park years ago as a parks employee, giving tours and making educational presentations. I am always amazed at how much Chance knows about the environment and birds in particular.

I am visiting family in Indianapolis this week. It was great to spend a few hours with my brother Chance, hiking trails at Fort Harrison State Park. We hiked Harrison Trace trail and a portion of Lawrence Creek trail. Fall Creek runs through the park, and there is some flooding due to recent rains. Harrison Trace trail is fully paved, making it very accessible. Lawrence Creek trail is single-track unpaved. Both trails go through mature wooded areas and include some minor hills. We walked through an old grove of Walnut trees and saw several deer.
