Eagle Creek Park

Eagle Creek is a very large municipal park in northwest Indianapolis, featuring a reservoir, bird sanctuary, forest, hiking trails, and other educational and recreational opportunities. I took advantage of warm weather, and hiked around the bird sanctuary and forest. Some portions of the trails were quite muddy, but I only fell in the mud once.

My brother, Chance, worked at this park years ago as a parks employee, giving tours and making educational presentations. I am always amazed at how much Chance knows about the environment and birds in particular.

  1. That looks like you had a good afternoon of weather and found the right places to hike. Next time you are in town and we have time, we should do that adventure trail up in the trees, it’s on my list of “to-do’s”. Also, there are some excellent ravines on the west of the reservoir that are less known, harder to get to, but fun for the spirited hiker! I have many great memories of sunsets over the bird sanctuary…great job, just no pay 😉
