Cheyenne Mountain and Robbers Roost

Date: 4/7/2012
Who: Sammy and myself
Length: about 10 miles
Time: 7.3 hours
Weather: 34-45 degrees, clear

We returned to Cheyenne Mountain today to explore additional areas of the mountain. We started on the MacNiell trail, and then took Swisher trail up toward the summit. A bear has also used the Swisher trail somewhat recently, leaving tracks for us to see. I was quite happy to not see the actual bear. The Swisher trail does not go all the way to the summit. There is a meadow with aspens, and then some bushwhacking along the ridge is necessary to reach the summit.
Then, we decided to take a side-trip over to Robbers Roost. I don’t know who the robber was, but the roost gives an unobstructed view East.

This hike took the BLUE line to the RED lines:

  1. Dude I would love it if you could give me directions to this hike. I’ve been trying to find the swisher trail up to Cheyenne mountain for a long time. Could you please email me directions to the trail head. Jason.dnelson1@gmail.com
